A suspension bridge consists of a pair of main cables that are stretched over two towers and attached at each end to anchors buried deep into the ground. Smaller cables are then attached to the larger cables to suspend the horizontal beam in the air. This type of bridge can span a distance of 2,000 o 7,000 feet, much further than any other type of bridge. These bridges are commonly found across water. An famous example of a suspension bridge is the Golden Gate Bridge in California.
The Brooklyn Bridge in New York is also a suspension bridge.
